Healthy investment for Svenska Bioforce

One of the most popular preparations against colds is Echinaforce, a natural medicine. The products for the Scandinavian market are packed at Bioforce's plant in Södra Sandby outside Lund, Sweden. Here, Moving has installed a conveyor system that lifts upright glass bottles and transports them over a packing machine.

Svenska Bioforce AB originates from a Swiss company that manufactures and markets natural medicines. Svenska Bioforce is located in Södra Sandby outside Lund and supplies the Scandinavian market with products like Echinaforce, a popular natural medicine that relieves cold symptoms.

The plant has a production line that fills and packs the bottles. Some are packed in cans while others are merely labelled after which they pass the can/carton machine.

Up to the ceiling
Moving's installation handles glass bottles from this filling line. The bottles arrive in three different sizes at a speed of up to one bottle a second. But only part of the production must go through the new can / carton machine, which is required to comply with official requirements that stipulate that a secondary packing list for approved natural medicines must be enclosed. The other bottles are sent past the machine on a conveyor that lifts the bottles over the machine.

"The bottle-handling method is somewhat unusual," says Peter Karlson, FlexiMove salesman. "Conventional solutions use a clamp conveyor that grabs onto the bottles. At Bioforce, a horizontal mass conveyor is used instead which 'pigeon-holes' the bottles. The solution minimizes the number of operating stations and facilitates a simpler, less costly solution, yet just as functional for the purpose."

The entire line has also been equipped with conveyors from Moving between the various machines.

Serious impression
