Moving advances in Norway
Moving has made progress in the Norwegian market. One of the latest installations is a conveyor system for the picking of pharmaceutical products at the pharmaceutical wholesaler Holtung A/S in Oslo.
Urban Jansson at Moving's regional office in Sandvika relates that the company strengthened its position in Norway back in 1997.
"We delivered, for example, an automatic stacking and palletising system to the crisp manufacturer, A/S Maarud. On the engineering side, we have customers such as Walbro Automotive A/S, which makes petrol tanks for companies like Volvo and Saab. Walbro has a plant in Kongsvinger, where we installed a FlexiMove conveyor system. We have also delivered palletising systems for the food industry."
"The Norwegian market appreciates that Moving has both a broad and deep product range. This is a result of our customers being in most industries. In addition, it is an advantage to be on the spot in Norway through our regional office."
Moving's conveyor systems
When the Norwegian pharmaceutical wholesaler Holtung A/S built a new distribution centre in Oslo, Moving was contracted to supply the conveyor system for the picking of pharmaceutical products. Holtung is a subsidiary of the Swedish company, Kronans Droghandel. The company stores all medicines approved in Norway, as well as a broad selection of merchandise and health care articles, and distributes these to pharmacies throughout the country.
Holtung's services consist of stock-keeping and inventory management, order reception, invoicing, marketing and purchasing. In 1996, its turnover was approx. SEK 1.2 billion, which corresponds to a market share of just over 20%. The new distribution centre became operational in September 1998. Moving's MidiMove system is in use with a box de-stacker, roller conveyors, transfers, etc.
Empty tote bins with a picking note go in a loop through the picking hall and are pushed off at the right picking station. There they are filled manually and transported on to the outlet, where Moving's equipment fits them with a lid and straps them before they are sorted and set on one of the eight exit conveyors.
Best technical solution
"We had four tenders," says Thor Holmen at Logipro A/S, which was assigned by Holtung to handle the complete purchasing. After a thorough assessment of both price and technology, it was clear that Moving had made the best offer."
