Swedish carton stackers a success at France's postal service
A Swedish carton stacker for feeding empty boxes into mail sorting machines is very successful in France. Moving has previously delivered 38 units to France's postal service and an additional 8 have been ordered.
After the Swedish postal service switched to the New Letter Network in 1995, the service purchased fifteen advanced sorting machines from the French company Alcatel. Discussions with the supplier revealed, however, that they had no satisfactory solution for automating the process of feeding empty boxes into the machines. Moving was asked to look at the problem. The result was a solution with carts for storing empty boxes from the input feeding. After the feeding, they are automatically stacked and inserted in the other end of the machine concurrent to its demand for new empty boxes.
"We have delivered fifteen carton stackers of this kind to Sweden's postal service," says Leif Johnsson, project engineer at Moving. "The first was a prototype that was placed in France."
"In France, the French postal service caught sight of it. It aroused their interest right away, and they placed their first order for a carton stacker in 1996. One year later, they ordered 25 units, and since then Moving has received additional follow-up orders. Up to now, Moving has delivered a total of 38 carton stackers, and just recently a new order arrived for an additional 8 units."
