Moving wins order for automated high bay storage system for AstraZeneca

AstraZeneca, PAR&D (Pharmaceutical and Analytical Research & Development), has placed an order with Moving for an automated high bay storage system for pharmaceutical substances, finished products and packaging materials. The system will be delivered and installed in Mölndal, Sweden, and will be operational by the end of 2008.

The order, which was won in competition with foreign as well as Swedish suppliers, strengthens Moving’s position in the Nordic market for advanced storage, picking and logistics systems, in particular within the pharmaceutical industry.

The high bay storage system is designed to store both pallets and plastic trays. The crane storage height is 20 m, which considerably increases capacity and meets the companies future requirements for increased efficiency measures at AstraZeneca.

In addition to two types of automatic cranes, Miniload and pallet crane, the project includes Moving’s WMS (Warehouse Management System), light-goods conveyors, pallet conveyors and palletising/depalletising equipment.

In close cooperation with AstraZeneca, Moving has created an efficient and flexible solution which provides several advantages in the handling of AstraZenecas wide product range.
