Airports

Airports are getting bigger. More and more passengers and baggage are flowing through them, while time margins are shrinking. The less time that aircraft are on the ground, the more they can be utilised. This sets demanding requirements for aspects such as baggage handling, which should be smooth, fast and safe.

Airport

From the time you check in your luggage, to the time you collect it from baggage reclaim at your destination, it has passed through a complex process of security checks, as well as baggage sorting in which it is sorted by flight, passenger class, destination and transfer, etc.

Equipment for baggage handling is adapted to special needs. Baggage can take almost any shape or form, from soft, small bags and rucksacks with troublesome straps to hard trunks or special baggage such as skis or pushchairs. The material can be smooth or rough.
Regardless of the baggage's character, it should be handled as carefully and efficiently as possible.

The working environment is important and great consideration is given to ergonomics during baggage loading and to the noise levels of equipment.

There are exacting requirements in terms of functionality, handling time and sorting reliability. Lost baggage causes irritation among passengers and affects the reputation of the airline. When a piece of baggage goes astray it costs an airline a lot of money. After September 11, 2001 security requirements have been tightened. From October 2002, all baggage will be X-rayed.

Baggage handling encompasses public spaces such as check-in desks and baggage reclaim areas. These should be aesthetically pleasing and blend in with the environment that has been created by architects and technicians. Baggage carousels should be clean and tidy, as well as meet the stipulated safety requirements for both passengers and airport staff.

Moving supplies equipment for the entire baggage handling chain from check-in and conveyors for security checks and sorting to baggage carousels for arriving luggage.

Moving AB is one of the market-leading suppliers for baggage handling in Sweden with large systems in operation at Arlanda (Stockholm) and Sturup (Malmö), as well as at many small local airports.
